Please read through thourougly before completing the registation form below.
Practice and Location: Rehearsals will be Tuesdays from 5:00-5:45PM in the Church Music Room. Rehearsals begin the Tuesday after Labor Day.
Who can join: Children who are in 4th through 6 grades. Seventh and Eight graders can interview to be "Proctors/Leaders." The Proctors assist the Director with facilitating decorum and vocal leadership with the Children's Choir.
When we sing: During the Fall Semester we sing at the 9:30am Family Mass on October 6, November 3, December 8. We are also planning on singing at the 4:00pm Christmas Eve Mass. For the Spring Semester, we will sing on February 2, March 2, April 13 (Palm Sunday) and May 3 and the at the Family Mass (9:30AM).
Attendance policy: Every member is expected to attend all rehearsals and Masses as listed on the calendar. Please do not miss rehearsals or liturgies without communication with the Director. Communicating an absence of any sort is key to planning and being able to perform certain pieces. We are all in this together.
We understand life can be messy, and certainly everyone’s life is busy. You and your child are making the commitment to participate, and it is important that everyone is held to that level of commitment. Please do your best to do so.
Communication: Messages and reminders pertaining to St. George Children's Choir will be sent via the Remind app (the icon looks like a speech bubble). Instructions on how to join and use the app will be provided.
As stated above, if your child/children cannot attend a rehearsal, Mass or other event, please let us know through this app or by email. We understand that life is messy, and things come up. We always ask for your cooperation in keeping the doors of communication open.
Service Hour: We will only be able to sign the service hour forms for those students who are present for at least 80% of scheduled Masses/rehearsals.
Bathroom breaks: Please have your child use the bathroom before rehearsal. We have a very limited amount of time to get through all the music.
Food and drink: Members are allowed to bring water bottles to rehearsals, but no other outside food or drink permitted.
Parent involvement: Parents, please take the time to sing with your children in the car, or grocery store, in an elevator and most importantly when you are attending mass on our off weeks. It helps support what we do here in rehearsal.
Sickness and germs: Please don’t send your child to rehearsal or a liturgy if they are running a fever or if you think they might be sick. Stay home and get well. In other words...Please don't share your germs!
Cancellations: If parish events are cancelled due to weather or other community concern, we will not meet. Make sure we have all your contact information so that we can send notice if we cancel rehearsal.
Again, all communications will be sent using Remind (see above). If you are in doubt, call the Parish Office, or check the parish website or Facebook page.
Picking up & Drop off: Parents/Guardians are expected to pick your child/children up promptly after rehearsal is over. We MUST see you pick up your children, even the older ones. Let us know if they are going home with someone else.
