Parish School of Religion

St. George Parish welcomes registered families with children who do not attend Catholic school to enroll into the Parish School of Religion (PSR) Program. Education classes are offered for children ages 3 years through 11th grade. Class sessions begin in September and end the first week of May.

Enrollment

Families must register their children in the PSR Program in order to attend classes. Please complete the PSR Registration form (see sidebar) and submit it electronically. The fee for PSR registration is $45 per child, not to exceed $75 per family.  A fee is not assessed for the Kindergarten Program, but we ask that parents complete the on-line registration form.

Schedule

Preschool (ages 3-5)
Sunday morning, 9:30-10:30 AM

Children must have reached their third birthday by September 30th in order to attend classes in the fall. The program will accept children up to 5 years old as long as they are not enrolled in elementary school. Registration for Preschool PSR classes is on a first-come first-serve basis and class sizes are limited. A waiting list will be established when the size limit is reached.

Preschool PSR can only be offered once parent volunteers are secured.  Please consider volunteering to teach on a rotating basis.

Kindergarten (ages 5–6)
Sunday morning, 9:30-10:30 AM

The Kindergarten PSR program consists of an at-home workbook study and participation in Children’s Liturgy which takes place during 9:30 AM Sunday Mass. Children will be called to the altar after the opening prayer during mass and will be led to the Activity Center to attend their own service.  They will return after the homily to continue mass with their families.

A registration fee will not be assessed for the Kindergarten Program, but we ask that parents complete the on-line registration form so that we can monitor participation.

Sunday Mass

We encourage families to attend mass weekly with their children. The Eucharist is central to our Catholic Faith, and weekly participation in the Mass is critical to your child's faith formation. Faith must be practiced to be meaningful, and Mass attendance as a family is an important extension of your child's religious education.

To enhance your child’s experience in church, the Parish offers some programs during church to help engage our youth:

  • Children in Pre-K through 2nd grade are welcome to attend Children’s Liturgy during 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning mass (August – May).  Children will be called to the altar after the opening prayer and be led to the Activity Center to attend their own service.  They will return after the homily to continue mass with their families.
  • Junior High and High school students are encouraged to attend to the Sunday Evening, 6:00 p.m. mass geared more towards young adults.
