Confirmation

Confirming Our Baptismal Promise

Sacrament of Confirmation is a celebration of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, who is already very present in our lives. Preparation for Confirmation provides the opportunity to affirm the faith you received at your Baptism.

It is a very special Ministry at St George. A privileged time within the Parish community for our young adult parishioners to come together form all area high schools (Catholic, private, and public) as one, for each of them is a child of Christ. It is a journey toward a more intimate union with Christ and deeper familiarity with the Holy Spirit. These Candidates’ journey will include their catechists, sponsors, and their parents.

St. George's Confirmation Program is a 9 month program (September – May) which includes 2 Large group Sessions, 4 Small Group Sessions, Rite of Welcome Mass, Rite of Enrollment Mass, Rite of Confirmation Mass at completion of program. All Group Sessions are held at the St George campus.

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is best understood when we look at faith formation as a lifelong process. The task before us is twofold: to recognize and respect where our candidates are on their journey of  faith; and to challenge them to search, move forward and continue to grow in their faith.

The retreat experience takes place at Angola State Prison. This is a unique opportunity for the candidates to listen to the life stories of men who have been transformed by their faith and relationship with Jesus. The retreat is an essential part of the Confirmation experience and journey. It provides each candidate the challenge to broaden their faith and deepen their relationship with Jesus and his teachings.
